Anyways, on with his article:

======

The difference between GIVING value and BEING valuable

by Matt Adamo

Ok, so i have a little story from yesterday that made me want to write this post. I’m writing this so (if you are culpable) that you realize, and you can stop. And so people can use this to attract more leads and not repel them away.

SO..

Yesterday i was on Facebook and this person (we will call him johnny) sends me a message telling me to come and read his free e-book. Now i had NEVER met this person, and before even saying “hi” he offered me his piece of $%17 e-book. So trying to be friendly and helpful i told him that if he wanted ANYONE to actually read his e-book he might want to at least introduce himself. And what he said next is what finally made me realize how to really “give value”

He told me that his upline in his network marketing company told him to just give this free e-book to as many people as he could and then get them on a list and into his sales funnel. He said this was “giving value” and this was what all the big dogs did to make a lot of money. However what he didn’t realize was that he WAS NOT giving value by any means. That e-book could have been the most informative thing in the world that could have made me MILLIONS of dollars however i will never read it because johnny is NOT a valuable person. Since i didn’t ask for it, it becomes SPAM.

It’s way more important in NETWORK marketing to be a valuable person and not spam people with “value” in the form of some bad e-book. On sites like Facebook, youtube and even this forum DO NOT spam people with your e-book. They don’t know who you are and if there is no relationship there is NOTHING.

The solution.

What johnny could have done that would have made me dying for more and asking for his e-book would have been if he first built a relationship with me. Maybe by Skype or even a few wall posts. Then i would have went to his profile and seen all of his really good informative video’s and notes. Then i probably would of asked him for any tips where he could have introduced the e-book. Now I would of actually read it because i know it’s going to be Johnny’s best stuff. When you present yourself as a valuable person you attract people. NOT by spamming them with what you think value is.

“To succeed in network marketing you MUST give people what they want, NOT what you THINK they want”

Always –Matt

======

It’s easy to bring value, but don’t forget to become valuable too. Awesome work Matt!

Don’t forget to go check out his <a href="http://mattadamo.net/" onclick="return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fmattadamo.net%2F','blog')" onclick="return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fmattadamo.net%2F','MattAdamo.net')" onclick="return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fmattadamo.net%2F','blog')"target="_blank">blog too!

Recently, I heard a personal story that had a profound effect on me. It was
told by Terri Maxwell, Chief Marketing Officer of a major network marketing
company.

Terri was a varsity basketball player in high school, a starting point guard on
her team. (A point guard is the player who dribbles the ball down the court
across the center line, and passes it to a teammate.)

During the first half of a championship game, she and her team were on fire.
Playing with total confidence and grace, she zipped easily past the opposing
defender at the center line to set up one successful play after another. At
halftime, her team was ahead by ten points.

The second half was a different story. Suddenly, instead of one defender at
the line, she faced two. She got boxed into a corner time after time, lost the
ball and saw the other team score. Ultimately, her team lost, and as you can
imagine, Terri was boiling mad.

The next day, while recounting the game to her grandfather, he asked her
something that would totally change her outlook on life. “Honey,” he said,
“what were you focused on during the first half?”

“Scoring points,” she replied.

“And what about the second half? What were you focusing on then?”

“Getting past those [bleeping] defenders!”

“That’s your problem,” he said. “You get what you focus on. In the first half
you focused on your goal of making baskets and you made baskets. In the
second half you focused on your obstacles and that’s what you got more of.”

Suddenly, Terri realized that she could have simply dribbled the ball with her
left hand instead of her right and gone right around the defenders. But
because she was so focused on getting through them, she forgot all about
this option.

Terri went on to give several examples of how this advice from her very wise
grandfather shaped her future decisions and actions.

In the meantime, I was sitting there with my jaw in my lap, stunned by this
revelation. Maybe everyone else has already heard this a million times before,
but for me it was brand new.

Focus on your goals, not on your obstacles. What meaning did this have for
me as a network marketer?

Well, I certainly haven’t lacked for obstacles in my career — I suspect you’re in
the same boat. Some days, obstacles seem to be the whole name of the
game. The primo prospect who says no. The marketing campaign that falls
flat. The downline leader who quits. A random snide remark from a friend or
relative that seems to suck out every bit of self-confidence from you.

But after hearing Terri’s story, I suddenly saw all those negative events as
just a series of hills and valleys. And what do you do when you encounter hills
and valleys in real life?

Do you stop and moan about how unfair it is that the Creator didn’t make
the world perfectly flat and smooth? Do you take a different route that takes
you 20 miles out of your way just to avoid them? Do you decide it’s probably
not a good day for a hike so maybe it’s best to just go home?

Of course not! You keep right on going because you’re focused on your goal.
You know where you’re going. You see the bigger picture. And furthermore,
as a wise network marketer, you KNOW that the hills and valleys in front of
you are unavoidable.

Along the way, there are moments of exhilaration when you reach the tops
of the hills and see the beautiful vistas spread out before you. But then there
are the valleys full of swamps and rivers. And climbing back to the top takes
a lot of work.

But no matter what, you keep on trucking because YOU HAVE A GOAL! You
can see it shining in the distance, and that’s where your focus lies.

Is it the same way with business? I think it is.

What are your thoughts?
===================================================

She’s definitely got a good point here. It’s real easy to concentrate on the wrong things and forget your goals. Write your goals down and put them where you can see them. It’s such a simple thing to do, but very powerful. Enjoy your day, and check out <a href="http://www.wisenetworkmarketer.com/" onclick="return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wisenetworkmarketer.com%2F','Liz%22s+site')" onclick="return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wisenetworkmarketer.com%2F','www.wisenetworkmarketer.com')" onclick="return TrackClick('http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wisenetworkmarketer.com%2F','her+site')"target="_blank">Liz’s site too!

Really cool article from a very informative and cool guy from Betternetworker.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok…You caught me Al Gore is not paying attention to this article or me for that matter. But what I want to share with you is the insights I have found on my quest to profit from Social Media.
What is social media? Social media most often refers to activities that integrate technology, telecommunications and social interaction, and the construction of words, pictures, videos and audio in a community. Examples of social media are Facebook, Twitter, My Space, and Youtube. These are the most popular and common examples. However, there are many other communities as this on the Internet.
How do you leverage these communities to build your network marketing business?
Many network marketers join these sites to start pitching their opportunity/product/services right away. They going direct about how great there widget is. How it is the best thing since slice bread. You know the story. If you have been involved with social media for any period of time you have ran into some buddy like this!
Do NOT do this!
The first thing you need to know about social media is about people. The average person is truly BORED out of their mind. They watch 4 to 5 hours a television a day, they are overweight, and generally speaking not reaching their goals. People want to be friends with people who have high value. If you hang out with those people, you become higher value by association.
Tip #1: The power of social media comes from your personal following. Your goal should be to build a group of people who are similar and like-minded to you.
Knowing most people are bored out of their mind, you need to NOT BE BORING! Make yourself an interesting person. Reading interesting books. Do interesting things. Eat interesting foods. A perfect example of being interesting is Al Gore. He took the truly controversial of global warming and capitalized on it. If you have ever watched his presentation, he made it very interesting!
Tip #2: You need to connect with people in your niche. If you are in network marketing search out other people in network marketing to become friends! Seems common sense, but with 20 million users it seems easy just to add friends at random to your community.
How do you translate building a community into dollars? This is the part of building a following. When people know and trust you they will want to do business with you! For every 10 status updates or message, you can have one message about your business.
Tip #3: Sharing How To information is always more effective than selling them the “who, what, when, where, and why” of your company.
Al Gore and I might not see eye to eye on global warming. But we both agree on the power of building a community around a common message.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hit it right on the nail. It’s about the networking!

John T.S. Murphy– Is a home base business owner who teaches people “How To” break free of the 9 to 5 Lifestyle. He shows EXACTLY how you can work from home, call your own shots, and live the lifestyle of your dreams!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A lot of attention goes to what makes a good leader, but the job of being a leader is a little different. My grandfather was the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, and what always amazed me was the devotion his employees felt for both him & his vision. Here’s what I learned from him about leadership:
1. Fact & Faith: The ability to hold 2 competing realities: where your business is today, and where you believe you will take your business. You must hold these in your head at the same time, all the time.
It’s very easy in network marketing to ride a rollercoaster of excitement and fear. Something goes right and you’re bouncing off walls. Other times being successful seems impossible. Leaders are able to embrace where they are in their business right now, and at the same time maintain absolute faith of what their business will become.
Why is this important? They avoid paralysis, confusion, and feeling sorry for themselves. They never stop. They find solutions and take action. They assess the problems in their business today with the certainty that they can find the answers. And not only does their business thrive, they inspire confidence in others.
2. Leaders Keep Focus: There are 3 components crucial to every business. Niche, Monetization, and Passion. Great leaders keep their business on track by focusing on making sure that all of their efforts are within one of these components.
Niche: They define their niche and stick to their target audience, building a strong consistent presense in that area.
Monetization: They figure out what system they need to set up to run their business & make a profit, and make decisions around it.
Passion: They learn what ingites the interest & commitment of their consumers and coworkers and never let the fire die.
Breakthroughs in business happen when leaders consistently and systematically drive these three areas forward.
3. Leaders Manage: Effective leaders get the right people on the bus and the wrong people off. They spend NO effort trying to turn the wrong people into the right people.
4. Leaders Attend to People First, Strategy Second: This is a tricky one, and where a lot of people get confused. We tend to think that the best leaders attend to vision and strategy first, then find people to help & follow them. In fact, that’s ego-centric leadership and doesn’t inspire great following.
Rather, attracting the right people to the general vision, then showing them their own valuable place within the organization and giving them the tools to succeed should be done first.
It’s here that social leadership skills are so important. Listening is only worth so much without the ability to read a good team members reactions and understand where they’re coming from when they are struggling.
5. Leaders Always Provide Reasons to Trust Them: At the end of the day, employees, downlines, and volunteers are very similar to customers. Trust must be built and maintained or you will lose them. This is where self development is so critical.
A pushy upline often lacks true leadership skills. Pushing for results is NOT the same as leading. These leaders haven’t decided who should & should not be on the bus, and lack the ability to listen, empathize, or help contruct an action plan.
Leaders always keep this in mind:
Someone who works for me can fire me too. I have to earn their trust & admiration, just as they have to earn mine, and I have to show them FIRST.
I have to honor their goals as much as I honor as my own. Have I created something that gives both of us the chance to shine?
Very well said post from a cool cat on betternetworker.com:
~~~~~~~~~~~

I just read this and it helped me immensely change my mindset that had been a little off for a few days. Hope it helps you too!

Persistence

This is a very valuable lesson. Understand that when we are on purpose, we will be in a peaceful, happy and joyous state while being persistent in manifesting our dreams. When we are on purpose our energy is in alignment with what we are intending to manifest. With that alignment the only possible outcome is the manifestation of our intentions. It is The Law…The Law of Attraction.

If we become impatient thinking we know the time frame in which things should happen, that creates resistance which can block the outcome. The key is being aware and respectful of the time buffer. The time buffer is the space between idea, action and reality.

An architect creates the image of a project like a commercial building. That image is transferred to drawings which then are developed into engineering specifications. Ultimately the building is constructed over time. It all began with an idea.

Once we are on purpose, there is an absolute knowing as to the outcome. Persistence then is the continual action on the plans that are delivered to us on how to arrive at the intended destination. The plans can come in many ways. It is our job to pay attention and attract the solutions to the process we undertake that is in alignment with our purpose.

Neale Donald Walsh writes about process and persistence :

“This is about more than just patience. This is about more than just persistence. This is about absolute knowing that God is on your side. When you know this, you never give up…and this the sense of struggle goes away. You simply keep moving forward, knowing that in the end all will work out. And that along the way there will be great insights and wonderful remembering.”

By the way if you haven’t already joined betternetworker, I suggest you do, I’ve never seen such a pool of knowledge and resources. It’s been a lot of fun networking with others there.
