The other day I received an email from Tellman Knudson. He always seems to have good content and products so his emails are one of the few I open on a regular basis. Inside was a link to one of his latest products. The thing I wanted to talk about today is his sales page. Or at least the first part of it.
It’s just a video, nothing else.
I know people have been implementing this technique lately but it’s still a fairly new way to do a sales page in this manner. So let’s take a look at it.
There is nothing on the page except for the video and a little pause button. That’s it. It’s clean and focused.
All the elements are there. A title, benefits, describing the product itself, etc. The video is basically text as well as his voice reading it. It’s kind of like a PowerPoint presentation or something of that matter. Basically, it’s just like a regular sales page, but in video format.
Do you think this is effective? I think it could be. Like I said, it has all the elements of a good sales page. The only thing it doesn’t have is the ability to skim. Which most people do when looking through a sales page. You have to wait till the end of the video to get any kind of link.
With that said, the video is good enough to keep your attention. If it was actually written out I probably would have read it all too. So I suppose if you were to try to do something like this, the copy is going to have to be well done and engaging in order to keep the attention of your visitor.
I think it’s a great idea and I can see it working well, as long as it’s done well. What do you think?
Maybe I should email Tellman and ask him how that format is doing for him eh?

Have you come across a sales page that used video? What are your thoughts on it? Did it keep you interested as much as a written sales page?

I’ve seen many similar sales pages lately, and it currently seems to be a trend. The reasons is that it’s probably working. Earlier, a few months ago, we saw sales pages with a lot of text and one or two videos.
But, I have to be honest. I like the video sales pages a lot more. But, I don’t like the ones where you don’t know how long the video is, and you can’t stop the video, and where you’ll only get to the order page after viewing the whole video. Sometimes the video is 30 minutes long. And I almost never have the time to watch a 30-minute sales video.
So, the Tellman Knudson way works great for me

It does seem to becoming a trend as of late. It’s a nice change as well.
Ya I think that is a big thing as well is being able to stop it or something. I would probably just leave if I didn’t have the ability to pause it.

Hey Chris,
This is such a slippery slope. Some folks immediately click away from a page that starts with a video. Personally, I like the concept for the most part. Especially if it tells me how long the video is and it gives me the opportunity to move on when I feel like it.

I agree. I like the concept as well, simply because video is so popular now. I would probably be one of those that would click away on a normal basis. I’m not a big fan of videos. It’s a great concept though.
