It doesn’t matter what you do, if you are a writer, affiliate marketer, small business owner, whatever, you are servicing others. That is your job. Yes you are selling things too, but those thing you sell help others. It solves a problem.
With that idea in mind, everything thing you do is to service your customers. Or as the case is nowadays, your fans, followers, and whatnot. The bottom line is you run a business of some sort, whether it’s online or offline. That business provides some kind of service in the form of your products as well as your free information.
It’s this kind of mindset that brought about sayings such as “the customer is always right”. While debatable, serving others is what makes a business what it is. A grocery store provides food as their service. A Home Depot provides materials and other household items as their service. An online marketer provides products and content as their service. A writer provides information in one form or another as their service. A musician provides music to entertain as their service.
You get the point? Find what people need and use your skills to provide that need. Serve the with what your business provides.
Just a little something to keep in mind.

Hi Chris,
I totally agree with you about providing a service.
To take it a stage further I would like to add that you shouldn’t expect anything back. If you provide a service or help somebody then that is your choice and you spoil the sentiment if you expect that the customer will then do something in return for you and get upset if they don’t…it’s not how the universe works!
Just keep helping others as much as you can in whatever small way and you will find that you will be fine and will receive much more back without having to expect it or look for it.
Great post Chris — really made me sit up and think!
Cheers

Oh, I knew I forgot to add something lol. But ya, it’s completely different if you give without expecting. I forget about that sometimes because I naturally tend to do that anyways. Thank you for pointing that out.
