What Are Your Superpowers?

by Christopher D. Anderson on January 25, 2010

Comic books have been around for a long time. They are an extremely popular form of entertainment. Why is that?

A well written comic book has a lot of reflections of society and life in general. These character may have superpowers that are beyond human possibility but they have human weakness just like we do. You can be superman but still have your heart broken.

And they reflect the problems that we deal with on a daily basis. The Hulk for example has the unstoppable strength and agility that is unmatched by any mere human or animal. But the Hulk also represents uncontrollable rage and anger. Something we face throughout our lives. It would be nice to turn into the Hulk every time someone ticks you off. Of course then you risk hurting people and most people don’t want that on their conscious.

In short superheroes in comic books may have superpowers but they are just as human as we all are. And we can relate to that. But not only that, the idea of having superpowers is appealing in itself.

To be able to fly, or turn invisible, or have great strength is something most think of from time to time. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to do these amazing things?

And What Does This Have To Do With Marketing?

Okay, okay, there is a point to all this I promise. While not as grand as the heroes in these comic books, we all have superpowers too. We all have something that we are good at. We’re talking about talent here. Something that you are better at doing then anything else. Something that clicks with you and “get” right away.

Some people are great at recruiting others into programs such as MLMs. That is their superpower. Some are great with reading and using stats. That is their superpower. I understand and can do writing fairly well. That’s my superpower.

We all have something we are good at. The point here is to use your superpowers. Yes, you still need to do other parts of marketing and running a business. But it’s your superpower that will make you shine. This is what you will excel at and what you need to use to work your way towards success.

Let Me Explain a Bit

When I started the whole online thing I got into MLMs. I worked hard and tried for some time to succeed with this path. I thought it was the way to go to make money online. Don’t get me wrong, I know a lot of people make tons of money with this kind of model. But at the time I thought this was the only way to make money online. So I kept at it even though I’m not very good at recruiting people. To be honest I suck at it. Definitely not my superpower.

Eventually I realized there are many ways to make money online (how blind was I?). I turned to a passion that I’ve always had: writing. I started this blog and since then changed gears. I’m using my superpower. It’s what I’m good at and it’s how I’m going to reach success. It’s how I’m going to make a living online.

Even though I made a little bit with the MLM formula, there was no way I would reach success that way. I can do MLM to a degree, but I can write much better. And while I’m not making tons of money and working from home, traveling when I want, doing pretty much what I want yet, I’ve still had so much more progress and enjoyment since I started using my superpower.

What is Your Superpower?

So what are you great at doing? Social Media? Writing? Making websites? Reading stats? Creating videos? Connecting with people?

What talents do you have that stick out from the rest? What do you excel at doing? Use that! You can still do all the other things that you need to run your business, but it’s your superpower that is going to lead the way.

Very true, and I think the key to being happy and successful online is to find what you’re really good at. I struggled for a long time by thinking that I had to do what other people were successful at, but the truth is that one thing just doesn’t work for everyone.

I did the same thing. I started out working in MLM thinking that was the way to do it. While that works wonders for other people it just didn’t work for me. There was no way I was going to succeed when I didn’t have the passion or even the skill for it.
