So, over the last few posts, I’ve gone over the importance of organizing your tweets and how to setup groups with Tweetdeck and Hootsuite. Today, I’m going to cover making groups on Twitter itself. They just recently released Twitter lists. You can use them to organize your tweets just like we made groups with the other programs. It’s pretty easy to do too.
All you do is log into Twitter. In the sidebar on the right side, there should be a lists section right under the search bar.
Just click on “new list” and a box will pop up. Here you will enter the name of your list and pick whether you want it to be public or private. We are going to call this list “Awesome Tweeple”.
Hit “create” and we have a new list. Let’s add some people to it. There are a couple ways of doing this. The first is to use the screen your taken to after you create the group. Just enter the usernames of who you are looking for and hit the “search” button.
The other way to add people from their profile page. Or from your following and followers screen. If you do it from your follow pages the list button will be next to their tweet. If you go to their profile it will be towards the top. Either way it looks like this:
When you click that button a box will pop up with your available lists. Just put a tick mark in the box next to your list and your done. They are now on your list. You can also make a new list in this same box.
Now you know several ways to help you organize all those tweets. It should help with communication and building relationships, which is what Twitter should be about anyways. It is a social networking site after all.
I also think that people are going to come up with some very intuitive ways to use the Twitter list as well. It’s always exciting to see where new things go. I’ll see you on Twitter!
