There are tons of ways to make money online. Affiliates, product creation, freelancing, selling information, to name just a few. With that said, there are also tons more ways to market those ways of making money. Social networking, cold calling, events, list building, and on and on.
There are so many ways to make a living online it should be easy right? Anyone should be able to come online, learn some techniques, create or use a product of some sort and make money right? Apparently not.
That’s the thing, most of the people that come online to earn a living fail. Everything that you do involves learning yet more information. And honestly, some tactics may work for one person and not another. So here’s a small bit of advice that may help.
Pick your product (or create it) that you are passionate about. Something that you feel great about and your excited to sell or share with others.
In the same light, pick your marketing tactics the same way. Pick ones that feel good to you, and that you find you can do with ease. Find something that really clicks with you personally.
The reason I say this is there are tons of skills to learn out there. And for one thing we can’t learn them all. Also some people are more adept to using certain skills then others. While one person may be a pro at email marketing, it may not fit with someone else.
Just because you have heard how great something works, does not necessarily mean it will work for you. There are some skills that we are naturally good at. Or that we pick up right away. Concentrate on these. Learn these skills first and build on them.
These are the skills that are going to take you towards success. You won’t get tired of them and you enjoy using them. This passion will make you even better at it then someone that didn’t pick up on it right away.
So, at least at first, concentrate on the skills and products that work for you. Later on when you have the ball rolling, learn how to improve your lesser skills.
Work with what your good at and have passion for and you will be well on your way to success.

p.s. this post was inspired by a fellow freelancer Alexis Rodrigo. Her recent post on her blog called Day 1: Make An Inventory of Your Freelancing Skills may condone more to freelancers, but I think it will be useful for everyone to find their good skills. Awesome post.
Have you ever tried forcing yourself to learn a skill? Even if you learned it, you didn’t have the passion for it did you?
