You Don’t Have to Be a “Big Dog” to Succeed

by Christopher D. Anderson on September 25, 2009

There are some marketers and entrepreneurs that seem to be in a league of their own. These are people that most people know, they have made a name out of, well, their name. These people are high profile gurus that have reached Rock Star status. I say rock star in a sense that a huge following of people are waiting on their every whim. They have humongous lists and whenever they have a new product, it seems to sell like crazy.

These are the big dogs in the marketing world. And rightfully so. They are good at what they do. They are making millions as we speak. They are living and breathing and innovating marketing is part of their status quo. These are people that have names most, in the marketing field, will recognize.

But not everyone will reach that status. And some don’t want to. That’s fine. You don’t have to be a “big dog” to succeed. You can still make a very comfortable living and lifestyle without the rock star status. I know quite a few people that are not as high profile but still do great work. And it’s either they haven’t been around long enough to create that kind of status or it’s just not a path they went for.

There many pathways to success. And as glorious as it seems to be one of the well known big dogs in the industry, it’s not necessary. You can still do very well in a different way. And you will still be well known in your own network. You don’t have to be a rock star if you don’t want to.

But if you do want that kind of status, it takes time and a lot of hard work. Just as with anything else in running a business, it takes time. If that is something you want to achieve then by all means go for it! Set yourself a long term goal and become the rock star you know you are!

The sky is the limit on how far we take ourselves and our business. Where you want to get to is completely up to you.

Do you want the “rock star” status attached to your name? Or a reputation that’s a little more subtle?

I people just stop labeling themselves and stop comparing themeself with others, success would be easier to accomplish. We all have the capacity for greatness, it is all up to us. :-)

That’s a great point! You are right, it would be much easier to not compare ourselves and just do it. Make our own path to greatness. Excellent!
