So I had this dream. And everyone in it sounded just like Steven Tyler. You know, the lead singer of Aerosmith. Anyways, everyone was able to rock out and sing just like Steven Tyler does.
Was that awesome? No, not really. Everything was the same, and boring. Nobody was unique anymore and it ruined Aerosmith for me.
What does this have to do with online marketing? Quite a bit actually. You see, there are a lot of people trying to do the “online thing” nowadays. And there are some awesome programs to help do that. These programs have really good ads and emails that they let you use. Sounds easy doesn’t it.
But when everyone and their dog is selling the same product with the same ads, it loses the effect. Think about it. What stands out to you more: Something you see everywhere, over and over? or something that stands out and is unique?
You can still sell the same product or service as everyone else. Just change things a bit and make them unique compared to all the other ads. Look at your product or service from a different angle and use that. Pick a different unique selling point (USP).
Now your ad is different and stands out from the crowd. Even if it is the same product everyone else is trying to sell.
Implement this in your brand and your business. Implement this with yourself. There is only one Steven Tyler, and there is only one you. If everyone was Steven Tyler then it wouldn’t be as good would it?
What are some ideas you have that makes you stick out from the crowd? What do you do to make yourself or your product different from everyone else?
