Use Your Why

by Christopher D. Anderson on April 30, 2009

Want to give up? I know I do sometimes. It’s easy to do. Just quit, you know you want to. Right?

Look, it’s real easy to get overwhelmed with all this information. They say it’s the information age and they aren’t kidding. But that’s just part of the problem. How long is it going to take start earning money? Or even earn the amount of money you want? Why isn’t anything working? What am I supposed to do!?

Frustrating eh? Of course people tell you to keep on going, “keep on keeping on”. And they are right. You have to keep going to succeed. It’s as simple as persistence and determination to succeed. Of course that’s easier said then done so I’ll give you a small but potentially powerful tip.

Why are you working online? Why are you into online marketing? Think about this for a minute. For the money? Sure, but dig a bit deeper. Keep digging until you find the real reason your doing this. What drives you and motivates you. What do you really want out of life. Not the money or possessions. Maybe not even the freedom (although that’s a huge plus!). Think about this and write some of them down. Really narrow it down. What is the main reason your doing all this, what is your why?

Write this down and put it in a visible spot for yourself. Somewhere you can see it often. When the times get tough remember your why. Remember what your here for and what your doing with your life. There can be some pretty large bumps in the world, and sometimes it’s easy to forget our why. Remind yourself and keep pushing, and your guaranteed success!

What’s my why? Mainly my kids. I want to give them something I didn’t have growing up. I’ve always lived paycheck to paycheck and honestly it sucks! So I keep pushing for two reasons.

One: So that I can provide for my family, so I can get the things they need.

Two: And probably a bit more importantly so I can learn skills that I can then pass on to them. So I can teach them how to be a good person and be the best at what they do.

That is my why. So when the going gets tough I think of them and the whole reason I’m doing all this and it helps me get through it. Obviously there are plenty of reasons to do this, but that’s the one that really pushes me when I need it.

So I leave off with one question. What is your why?
