Yes Man Review

by Christopher D. Anderson on April 13, 2009

Yes Man. I just watched this movie the other day. You know, the one with Jim Carrey, and he has to say yes to everything. Ya that one. Anyways, I think everyone in a business or looking for self development can learn something from this movie.

Yes I know it’s a comedy and it’s pretty ridiculous in parts, but there is a pretty powerful messege. The main character, Carl,  goes through life saying no and coming up with all kinds of excuses to get out of things. He lives a boring life, with no excitement and does the same boring thing every day. He’s completely unhappy with his life but he doesn’t want to take the risk to change it.

As fellow entrepeneurs, I’m sure you can relate or at least know someone that is like this. These people will fail. Making excuses will get you nowhere. You get what you work for. That is part of being in a business and being successful. Taking risks.

Anyways, so Carl ends up going to this conference after running into an old friend. He tells Carl about the conference and how it’s changed his life and what not. Long story short he goes to this conference and learns about the power of Yes! Say yes to everything they say.  He starts saying yes, no matter the results. Which of course makes for some very funny and disturbing comic relief.

But more to the point, it completely turns his life around. He learns all sorts of things such as flying a plane and bungie jumping. His life is now completely random and exciting. All from one little change in his life. He started experiencing life in general.

I thought that was quite powerful. One little change in his life and he was able to turn his life around. He stepped out of his comfort zone.  There are things you may have to do in your business that you may not feel comfortable with. Such as making calls with leads or putting out content.

How do you get past that? Just do it! Start doing it and keep doing it. The more you do the easier it gets. Step out of your comfort zone and become a better and more well rounded person. Expand youself, expand your business!

YES!
